Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Quebec, is a charming municipality located on Île Perrot, west of the island of Montreal. As the largest of the four municipalities on the island, it boasts a rich history and a vibrant community.
The history of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Quebec, dates back to October 29, 1672, when the island was granted as a seigneury to François-Marie Perrot, a captain in the Picardy Regiment and governor of Montreal. The Parish Municipality of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot was formed in 1949 from the Parish Municipality of L'Île-Perrot.
In 1950, the municipality lost part of its territory with the creation of the Village Municipality of Pincourt. The Town of Pointe-du-Moulin, founded in 1958, was amalgamated into Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot on December 18, 1986. The municipality underwent further changes in status, becoming a regular municipality in 1998 and a ville in 2004.
As of the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Quebec, had a population of 11,427. This represented a 7.3% increase from its 2016 population of 10,654. The municipality had a total of 4,156 private dwellings, with 4,070 occupied. With a land area of 28.06 km2 (10.83 sq mi), it had a population density of 407.2/km2 (1,054.7/sq mi) in 2021.
