Roblin, Manitoba, an unincorporated urban community in Canada, is nestled approximately 400 km northwest of Winnipeg. Once designated as a town prior to 1 January 2015, Roblin now forms part of the Municipality of Roblin. The community, with a population of 3,284 in 2010, is a hub of agriculture and resource-based industries, contributing to about 40% of the local economy. Services, tourism, and the processing of wood and agricultural products also play a significant role in Roblin's economic landscape.
The history of Roblin, Manitoba dates back to the 1880s when the first group of Europeans, mainly cattle ranchers and grain farmers, settled in the area. The arrival of the railway in 1903 brought many Eastern European farming families to Roblin, then known as Goose Lake. The village was renamed Roblin in 1904 in honor of the Premier of Manitoba, Rodmond Palen Roblin.
The same year, the post office, originally named Goose Lake, was established on 8-26-28W, with W. Atkey serving as the first postmaster. The first mayor, Irwin L. Mitchell, served from 1914 to 1917. Roblin also housed the former Saint Vladimir's College. The village was incorporated on 1 May 1912 and became a town on May 1, 1962. Roblin celebrated its 100th anniversary in July 2013, with Robert Misko currently serving as the mayor of the municipality.
Krosney Lake, east of East Goose Lake, was officially named by the Geographical Names Board of Canada in memory of Private Darren Michael Krosney.
According to the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Roblin had a population of 1,709 living in 820 of its 903 total private dwellings. This represented a change of 0.7% from its 2016 population of 1,697. With a land area of 3.75 km2, Roblin had a population density of 455.7/km2 in 2021.
Roblin, Manitoba, located on Goose Lake and Krosney Lake, is a short drive to Lake of the Prairies. The community is situated between Duck Mountain Provincial Park and Riding Mountain National Park, offering a plethora of recreational activities. Roblin boasts a 9-hole golf course, an outdoor swimming pool, an ice arena, a curling rink, and a movie theater.
Roblin is conveniently located 90 km west of Dauphin via PTH 5 and about a 45-minute drive east from Yorkton on PTH 5. The community is also accessible by the Roblin railway station, which is served by Via Rail.
